We use our deep local knowledge and broad global perspective to guide SMEs on how to direct resources to where they will best achieve impact hence contributing to the sustainable economic development of the region. r target market is SMEs and Producer Organizations and we aim to be the total SME solution provider to these businesses by providing tailor-made business advisory, research and training and transactional advisory services. SMEs in Kenya and largely in Africa are characterized by the lack of not only strategic direction but also implementation/execution support as many of the service providers are not able to engage with them on a long term basis due to resource scarcity i.e. human capital on the support side and financial capital on the finance side. Our experience over the last 2.5 years has shown us that for meaningful and sustainable impact to be achieved, an SME needs between 6-18 months of ongoing support to enable them to achieve meaningful transformation depending on the gaps identified at the diagnostic stage of the process. Using the above approach i.e. 6-18 months engagement therefore means that for us to reach more SMEs and hence create more impact (local economic development, jobs etc), we need to have more associates working with the SMEs. Our goal over the next 3 years is to reach about 750 – 1.500 SMEs being supported to grow at any one time by a network of 150 Blue Associates spread across Kenya. .
