Gastroparesis & Digestive Tract Paralysis Awareness Month
Gastroparesis is a condition in which the stomach empties food into the small intestine more slowly than normal, even though there is no physical blockage. This can interfere with digestion and make it difficult for the body to absorb nutrients.
Common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, feeling full after eating only a small amount of food, bloating, abdominal discomfort, acid reflux, poor appetite, and unintended weight loss.
Gastroparesis may be associated with diabetes, certain medications, surgery, or nerve damage. Managing underlying conditions, following medical advice, eating smaller frequent meals, and seeking early medical care can help reduce complications.
If you experience persistent digestive symptoms that do not improve, consult a healthcare provider for evaluation and appropriate treatment.
Greater awareness leads to earlier diagnosis, better care, and improved quality of life.
