We are searching for farm-related personnel with business sense who are ready and willing to work in a rural agriculture set up to help re-engineer various business units to ensure profitability.
1. FARM MANAGER
Overall job Purpose
We are searching for a Farm manager with good business acumen and effective
administrative skills to join our team. The main purpose of the job is to:
Monitor staff, crops, and livestock
Purchase supplies
Prepare budgets and reports,
Put in place effective marketing strategies to ensure maximum profit.
Maintainprofessionalnetworksandkeepabreastwiththedevelopmentsinagricultural
science.
Specific Responsibilities:
Manage labor planning and allocations and maintain staff discipline and welfare in accordance with farm policies for effectiveness and efficiency.
Analyze existing operations, crops, livestock, staff and recommend improvements.
Prepare plans and schedules for planting, harvesting, and ensuring employees understand expectations.
Institute effective employee welfare programs
Visit the different divisions to inspect crops, livestock, and also perform tests on soil and
water.
Plan and coordinate purchase of farm inputs and consumables in the dairy section and maintain an efficient inventory management system
Schedule repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
Deciding on the type, quality and quantity of the crops to be planted
Preparing plans for the mode of harvest, harvesting schedules and collaborates with the farm operators for carrying out these activities
Hiring employees for minor duties such as managing work schedule, daily wages, feeding livestock and managing the harvest
Monitoring the quality and quantity of crops and maintaining animal health
Updating knowledge on plant and animals diseases and taking necessary measures
for treating the same
Management of sales and marketing of farm products like crop harvest, dairy production, and livestock
Keeping a track of health and safety of farmworkers and other staff
Handle the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm like vegetables, dairy,
milk grain.
Ensure all employees adhere to health and safety regulations.
Assist with the recruitment and training of new staff members
Prepare budgets and financial reports.
Build professional networks and keep abreast with the developments in agricultural science.
Any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture. Knowledge in animal science, or equivalent will be an added advantage
Additional courses in business management or administration are recommended but not mandatory
Relevant experience in a farming-related field very necessary
Management experience would be a plus.
A passion for agriculture.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to stretch and work beyond the normal time when a situation calls for, is
important
Detail oriented
Knowledge of budget preparation and report writing
2. DAIRY FARM SUPERVISOR
Overall Job Purpose
Reporting to the Farm Manager on day-to-day basis , the Dairy Farm Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, supervision and performance of a designated dairy farm responsibilities which include aspects of high quality animal care , safety, maintenance of dairy facilities , supervision and coordination of casual workers in the dairy unit.
Specific Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates day to day activities of workers engaged in milking,
feeding and caring for the goats and cows and will include maintenance of
cleanliness of the barns and milking parlors
Assigns workers to tasks, such as feeding cows, goats, sheep, cleaning cattle, barns,
and equipment, and assisting with breeding and health care.
Provide a feeding program and predictions on feeding requirements.
Manage the sections of the farm set aside for production of essential inputs.
Maintain records of inventory in the dairy stores
Provide weekly performance reports
Inspects barns and milking parlor for cleanliness and maintenance and informs workers of actions required to ensure compliance with established standards.
Studies feed and milk production records to determine feed formula required to produce maximum milk yield and notifies workers of diet changes.
Studies genetic and health records to develop schedules for activities, such as breeding, dehorning, and sale of calves.
Schedules breeding, vaccinating, and dehorning of cows and calves.
Observes cows during estrus and artificially inseminates cows to produce desired
offspring.
Examines cows for evidence of illness, injuries, and calving, treats illnesses and injuries,
delivers calves, and engages VETERINARIAN to care for serious injuries and illnesses.
Performs other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time
Requirements
Diploma in Dairy & Food Technology from a recognized institution
At least 3 years relevant work experience in the dairy industry mandatory Experience in MS Office especially excel
Good report writing skills
Ability to work independently
Results oriented individual and a team player
Organized, rigorous and precise. Must also have good reporting skills
Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently
Ability to effectively communicate and deal with clients & team members
3. FARM OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
Overall Job Purpose
Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Farm Operations Assistant will play a key role in supporting the Farm Manager in running the day-to-day ground operations logistics and basic administrative support of the Farm activities.
Specific Responsibilities
Oversee daily casual staff during planting, weeding, harvesting and any other related casual responsibilities
Ensure that the casual staff recruited are the exact number working on the farm
Ensure casual staff are paid their daily wages
Ensure sufficient provision of farm inputs and animal feeds to support general farm
activities
Coordinates grounds maintenance within the farm in liaison with other units
Assists with the procurement of the Farm’s supplies and equipment
Work in liaison with the Farm Livestock Supervisor to determine forage needs.
Receive supplies to the stores and keep the store’s inventory up to date against items
received versus items issued
Ensure the store is well and neatly arranged
Ensure proper record keeping and filing
Undertake stock taking every after two weeks and furnish the Farm Supervisor/
Manager with full report
Facilitate and monitor dispatch activities
Invoicing of purchases
Any other relevant duties as you may be assigned from time to time
Requirements
Diploma in Stores Management/Supplies Chain from a reputable institution
Energy to move around
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Competencies in data entry
Experience in storekeeping and stock inventory control.
Demonstrated on-farm field experience with any private or public institution in the
related field for at least 3 years.
Knowledge in the use of MS-office preferably excel
Written and spoken English is preferable.

communication and multi-cultural awareness
