Here in kenya people die from electrocution every other day owing to a variety of factors. While some die coz of their own stupidity, and/or lack of good judgement, most of these deaths are caused by malfunctional appliances or faulty wiring of the buildings. These two are usually beyond the scope of users to correct or repair. But the deaths can be avoided all the same if due diligence is followed.
The first rule in avoiding such tragedies in the house is to always engage competent technicians whenever work of an electrical nature has to be done in your house. Never ever compromise on this. You d rather forfeit the use (and comfort derived from such use) of an appliance suspected to be of risk, until such a time when you can afford a good technician.
If you ever feel an electrical shock upon touching the body of an appliance, that shaking/vibration feeling you get when mains electricity goes through your body, no matter how mild, it would be wise for you to unplug the appliance and seek professional help. Usually in such happenstances, you were meant to die but the ground connection saved your life by taking in most of the electricity away from your body and into the ground. For the majority of people who end up dead it is this earth connection that fails or is absent altogether. You were lucky rats had not cut up your ground connection up until now, otherwise we would be planning your send-off feast. And rats do eat and cut up electrical cables. Other s**t circumstances could happen and disconnect your earth connection. In the event that this happens you are better off if you have been servicing your appliances using competent people. Fill her up with the appropriate foods from top to bottom , making sure that it is organised in such a way that door opening sessions are few and brief, and she will make you smile all the way to the bank. A fully stocked refrigerator maintains the desired temperatures more easily than a sc****ly stocked one , which translates to smaller loads subjected to it's working parts which in turn translates to smaller electricity bills for you, and also translates to a long life for the refrigerator. You could never be happier !
