The forum on Emerging Issues in Employment and Labour Sector organised by the Agricultural Employers' Association - AEA came to a close today at The Exotic House, Kericho. The forum which was graced by the ELRC Judge Lady Justice Maureen Onyango was described as an eye opener by the many participants who attended. The labour sector is quite dynamic and the need to have employers understand their rights and obligations is key.
The era of AI and and technology changes require retooling and new skills to handle the multi generational workforce. The use of AI and future jobs in the Agricultural sectors was discussed at length. The participants were drawn diverse employment sectors.

The Association once again achieved a milestone in service delivery to it's members after signing the collective Bargaining Agreement CBA 2026/27 for employees working in the Wildlife Conservancies in Laikipia and Meru Counties The CBA improves the terms and conditions of service for the employees in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Borana Conservancy, and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. During the signing ceremony, the AEA CEO, Mr. Wesley Siele thanked the two parties for the dedication in ensuring good industrial relations and productivity in the farms. He congratulated Mr. Dickson Maundu, the newly elected General Secretary for the Kenya Safaris Workers Union for his new post. On their part, the employers led by Mr. Abdi Sora committed to always better the terms to boost morale as they valued the contribution made by the employees. The two parties committed to ensure the next CBA is concluded in good time.

ASSOCIATION SIGNS CBA WITH EAST AFRICAN GROWERS FRESH PRODUCE LTD

The Association has successfully concluded negotiations and signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for East African Growers Fresh Produce Ltd covering the period 2025–2027. The two-year agreement was negotiated with the Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union (KPAWU), resulting in reasonable and balanced terms that are friendly to both the employer and employees.

AEA SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS FIRST MEDIATION SKILLS TRAINING FOR MEMBERS THROUGH MTI
The Agricultural Employers Association (AEA), in partnership with the Mediation Training Institute International (MTI), East Africa has successfully conducted a five-day mediation skills training for Directors, HR Managers, and other management staff drawn from member organizations.

The training equipped participants with practical skills in alternative dispute resolution, enabling them to handle workplace conflicts, grievances and employee relations matters more effectively and efficiently.
