In 1992, there was a good chance for the opposition to beat president Moi in the 1992 General elections with the main agenda; Corruption by president Daniel T. Moi. The rights of Mwai Kibaki, Kenneth Matiba, Martin Shikuku, George Anyona, Haron Mwau and Oginga Odinga were the Pioneers.
However, the united opposition didn't run for long before self interests became the main menu on the discussion table. This resulted in the split and Kibaki ran for presidency with DP, Matiba with FORD -Asili, Oginga Odinga with FORD-Kenya, George Anyona with KSC while Haron Mwau ran under PICK. The division was a celebration to Hon. Moi comfortably beat them with his KANU where he was declared the winner of December 1992 general elections gaining 36.3% of total valid votes cast. President Moi also gained the majority of total parliamentary seats under KANU.
2025, have led to the formation of united opposition ahead of 2027 polls being spearheaded by Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Fred Matiang'i, Justin Muturi, Cleopas Malala and Rigathi Gachagua. The background on this unity is corruption by president William Samoei Ruto's. This is a replica of 1992 before polls unity of the opposition.
The main question is; will the opposition stand united and have one flag bearer for the 2027 polls to beat WSR or self interests will divide?
