Hi, I go by the name Sikamoi Damaris ,Iam from Westpokot county ,Kacheliba constituency ,Kodich ward
I'm a third year student at Maasai Mara university pursuing Bachelor's of art in communication and public relations ,
I'm a children's ambassador therefore am keen on child literacy in my county thus I want all counties to benefit through the programs in conjunction with our county governments ,this aids in high child enrollment in schools thus eradicating the chances of having a dependant society ,this enhances the livelihood and lifestyles of the people because when we empower our youth we all stand to benefit from it all together .
Other programs that I have are restoring our water catchment area thus promoting of tree planting in our homes and restoring forests one tree at a time ,this goes to show that most of my constituency has had a minimal amount of rainfall per annum and when it falls it goes down the drain due to the flooding ,we as a community have in the longest time stored water from this down pours in reservoirs to fend for the livestock during the dry seasons ,in partnership with various non governmental organisations we have made it possible to dig underground wells and and reservoirs that aid it our farming and livestock rearing and more water is harvested ,irrigation schemes have been put in place to fend for food security to help accommodate more food production reducing the need to dependence on aid from other countries hence increasing food security.
The Kalenjin women foundation is a foundation that aids us achieve our goals ,this society of women has come together under one pillar to give back to their communities and attain immense success
so on the 27th July ,Weston hotel ,Nairobi in conjunction with Kalenjin women come together to host an event in honour of the very cause that I stand for which is helping my society most especially kodich ward , get literacy amenities there fore pushing us on the fore front because we only succeed by empowering our society and the youth ,through schooling and motivation all is possible ,not forgetting the undermined in our communities they stand to benefit a lot from this program.
So on the 27th of July ,join me and the rest of my sisters as we strive towards a noble cause
