Meet Sophorn Sovanndara, Grade 6(A), and Ponlok Nareach, Grade 4 (A) of Pu Trom Tmei Primary School!

For two students at Pu Trom Tmei Primary School, participating in the Green Club activity has become an important step toward environmental awareness. But the real change is in the Student Competition, in which they decide to draw their dream home, a shelter in the middle of a lush and vibrant forest. The breathtaking scenery shows their love for nature.

For these champions, they recognize that there is work to be done, especially with younger students who are not proficient in waste management. But they do not escape the challenge, they know the role they can play in raising awareness among their friends, just as their teachers did for them. They are also active participants in the school's biodiversity garden.

Their message to their friends who have not yet joined the Green Club is to seize the opportunity to explore, showcase their creativity, and remember that it's never too early to become a champion for our planet.

Meet Soeun Barang and Dam Sovannavin of Pu Hiam Primary School!
"At first we did not know what a green club was, but the green club turned out to be an interesting adventure for us," they shared.

They learned about the wonders of wildlife, the importance of forest protection, and the art of waste management. The best part? "It's really easy because we already know something about forest protection because of the teachings of our teachers and their families," they said.

In the Student Championship competition, the two students painted their dream home as a shelter in the middle of a vibrant forest. "The reality around our house is not yet so beautiful or green, but that is why we want to raise awareness!"
Their message for the community is "Let's work together to protect our environment! We have learned a lot at the Green Club and we want to share it with everyone. Let's work together for the betterment of the environment!"

Meet Savorn Phyrisa and Peh Marisa ninth grade students of Sre Preah Secondary School, who learn about environmental challenges and waste management!

They happily shared: "We are excited to be part of a green club with lessons on forestry, wildlife protection, and integrated waste management, which include an explanation of the root of the problem, challenges, and solutions that we as students can do.

The opportunity to research, create presentations, and share their knowledge with friends is empowering. With guidance from their teachers and self-research, they have honed their research and presentation skills about the importance of environments, emerging as confident young leaders. Their dedication to environmental education is evident in their eagerness to share their knowledge with their peers and contribute to their school's sustainability initiatives.

"Our focus on environmental education demonstrates my enthusiasm for sharing my knowledge with friends and contributing to sustainable initiatives in my school and community."

The changes in the school are obvious. Through green club lessons and practice, this secondary campus is much cleaner. However, students are still hesitant about community involvement. "We are not sure if there will be people regularly involved in cleaning up the community," they said. However, there is a growing curiosity among their peers about green club activities as well.

Although this is the first year of the Eco-Friendly School project, the students of Sre Preah Secondary School have learned and practiced well with the Green Club. They express hope for a better future for the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary.

Meet Vanney Sophanmaina and Treh Sreyneth, the champions of Putang Primary School who mention their top priorities: waste management and wildlife conservation!

"We have seen elephants with our own eyes!" This hands-on experience with nature spurred their creativity for the Student Championship. Their paintings are not just ordinary posters, they embody the powerful message of deforestation, wildlife, and the importance of participating in forest conservation through the knowledge and love for the natural world they acquire from the Green Club.

"Through the Green Club, we learned a lot of great things about the environment," they say. They discovered the importance of caring for the environment, especially when it comes to waste management and wildlife protection, and they shared their experiences with their parents and siblings by spreading awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.

Their vision for their school is to be a haven for nature, a vast green meadow that is free of waste. They also imagine the school to be a haven for biodiversity, wildflowers, and a well-maintained biodiversity garden complete with compost and incinerator for proper waste management.

Their message to their classmates is: Let us keep our homes, schools, and communities clean and green!

Meet Tak Sophea and Long Sreyneth, the student champions of Pu Ju Primary School!

They shared: "We are happy to join the Green Club because we love nature, wildlife, and the environment." With great observation, they noted the changes in rainfall caused by deforestation, climate change, and waste management challenges.

They shared: "My parents knew I had joined the Student Competition and they both encouraged me to work hard.”

Taking Action is their next step "Students in grades 1 and 2 still do not understand how to store and dispose of garbage," they explained. They often take the garbage to the incinerator and collect cow dung for composting.

The journey of these Pu Ju Primary School students is a testament to the power of environmental education. Their story is a reminder that even the smallest steps can make an immediate impact by inspiring others to take care of the environment for the well-being of our planet!

Meet Munh Klot, Sra Saven, Nak Kvat, and Thi Thet, the 4 champions from Sre I Primary School✨🌱

"The lessons and games of the Green Club are fun, easy to understand, and practical, except for lessons about ecosystems​ which are slightly more complex," they shared with a laugh.

Hands-on activities such as waste management become an experience that contributes to their sense of environmental responsibility.

In the Student competition, they released their creativity by drawing and composing short educational essays describing the beauty of green homes and the important role of forests and natural resources in our lives. The essays and artworks accompanied a good educational message, such as a clean community, no illegal activities such as electrocute fishing, and protection of our precious forests.🏞🌳

These four outstanding students added, "Eco school" means a clean school, it makes me happy to study and motivates me to come to school every day. They even noticed a positive change in some classmates who were initially reluctant to attend, but with the unwavering support of teachers and students themselves took responsibility for keeping their school clean.

Compared to the past, Sre I Primary School now has a growing biodiversity garden, planting more trees, decorating the school, and better waste management.
Their ambitions do not stop there. They imagine a future where Sre I Primary School is gaining more support, allowing them to expand their Green Club activities and encourage the next generation of students.πŸŽ‰πŸŒ

πŸ“ŒThe β€œEco School” project aims to disseminate and strengthen biodiversity knowledge to students in the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary under the αž‚αž˜αŸ’αžšαŸ„αž„αžšαŸαžŠαž”αžΌαž€ αž€αŸ‚αžœαžŸαžΈαž˜αžΆ I Keo Seima REDD+ of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and in collaboration with the Mondulkiri Provincial Department of Environment, the Mondulkiri Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sports.
