Like in many countries, in Cambodia, small and medium businesses have always been the backbone of her economic development. However, if comparing Cambodia economy to those of the neighboring countries, we are far behind from being competitive to them. This is really a wakeup call. While government needs to play a big role in supporting its local businesses, the businesses themselves could work their creativity out and help one another to grow. This is a reason why there should be such a training program called “Join, Connect, and Grow”.
With the mission to help transform Khmer business and build great entrepreneurs, the objective of the program is to gather passionate entrepreneurs to learn important business skills and enrich entrepreneurial mindset while those who join are encouraged to connect and support each other for growth.
To make this happen, a series of training courses will be provided. For each training, a specific skill will be picked to combine with building mindset, and the networking opportunity will be made creative and remain in all courses.
I. Join => to Learn
To better develop a business, a business owner will need to have multiple skills. Within this first element, building entrepreneurial mindset is one key part, and the others is business skills, consisting of soft and hard skills.
II. Connect
The program will gather entrepreneurs from various industries along with interested students who have a plan to startup their own businesses. This is really a great opportunity for all to connect, and support each other for growth. As an overview, the connection could help in two ways
- Students to Business Owners: While business owners have more business experience to share, young passionate want-to-be entrepreneurs might be having new, exciting ideas to tell. It could also be an opportunity for a business owner to find talented staff and for talented staff to find a great business leader to follow.
- Business Owner to Business Owner: Entrepreneurs like to speak entrepreneurial language. After building the connection, they could learn and share, support and consult, and perhaps find services from each other.
III. Grow
Basically, the goal of the program is getting people to build business mindset, learn business skills, and connect for growth. Thus, from one training to another, the program will be having follow-up activities with the participants/business owners to make sure there is a real impact to their businesses after attending the course. In some cases, on-going support on strategies and growth might be given.
