The work that gets done while nobody is watching

The jobs that catch a practice out are rarely the big ones. They are the small repetitive checks nobody has time to do consistently, month after month.

Claude runs those quietly in the background here. Transactions get classified as they arrive rather than in a rush at month end. A supplier entered twice under two spellings gets flagged as it is created. A counterparty nobody has dealt with before gets noticed. Most accounting software makes you know where to look. You want one figure, so you open a report, set a filter, export it, and hope you chose the right options.

IEWS lets you ask instead. Claude sits behind the ledger, the income and expense records, the withholding and the payroll — and answers in ordinary language. What did we pay this supplier this year. Why is this month heavier than last. What is still outstanding from that customer.

It reads the paperwork so you don't have to

Every accounting job starts with somebody reading something. A bank statement. A supplier invoice. A receipt photographed badly on a phone. A certificate, an ID card, a spreadsheet somebody built their own way.

That reading is where the hours go, and it is the least interesting part of the work.

IEWS uses Claude to do it. Put the document in and it comes back as a draft entry — who it was, what it was for, how much, and which account it belongs to. Photographs work as well as clean PDFs, and riel and dollars are handled together rather than separately.

It is the biggest single thing the AI does here, because it was the biggest single thing eating the day.

You still check it. It just is not you typing it.

Eleven agents, one set of books

IEWS Ai Accounting is the platform the other agents work inside. Bank statements go in at one end; a finished set of accounts and completed filings come out at the other.

Each company's books are kept entirely separately. Nothing ever reads across two clients — that is built into the system itself, rather than left to anybody's care.

Filling in the forms, where you can watch it

This agent works inside the government filing system, in your own browser, in the session you signed into yourself. It fills the return in on the form itself, box by box.

It works deliberately slowly. The box being filled is outlined so you can follow it. It types at roughly the speed a person types. It says, in plain words, what it is doing and why it is doing it.

Then it stops, and you read the return and submit it.

It has never sent a filing by itself, and that is not a setting waiting to be switched on. For a document that carries your signature, your approval is the point of the entire exercise.

One record for each person you deal with

Most bookkeeping mess is not arithmetic. It is the same supplier entered three times under three slightly different spellings, so the totals never agree and nobody quite trusts the report.

This agent keeps a single record for every customer and supplier: who they are, their tax registration, the terms you agreed, everything they have been invoiced, and what is still outstanding.

It checks the tax registration rather than taking it on trust, because an invoice carrying the wrong one becomes a problem at the worst possible moment.

Duplicates are flagged as they are being created, not discovered months later during a reconciliation. Clean records here are what make every other report believable.

Following the rules when the rules move

Tax practice in Cambodia changes through official notices. A rate moves, a threshold shifts, a form is reissued — and the change applies whether or not anyone in your office saw it.

A practice that misses a notice carries on the old way until somebody catches it, and by then several months have been filed under a rule that no longer applies.

Every registered company owes the tax authority something each month, and a larger return once a year. Different filings, different dates, and they do not line up neatly.

This agent holds all of them in one calendar — across every company you look after, rather than one business at a time — and tells you what is coming before it arrives.

What the company owns, and what it is still worth

Vehicles, equipment, office fit-out, machinery — anything the business buys that will last more than a year cannot simply be treated as a cost. It has to be recorded once and then written down gradually as it is used.

This agent keeps that register: what was bought, when, what it cost, how long it is expected to last, and what it is carried at today.

Purchases and disposals flow straight through into the accounts, so the year-end note on assets is already written by the time an auditor asks for it.
