Cambodia’s agricultural sector has recorded significant growth so far this year.

According to the latest report from the Cambodia Rice Federation, the country exported 707,000 tonnes of milled rice during the first seven months of 2026, generating 415.12 million US dollars in total revenue.

The average daily trading value in the first semester rose to 854 million riel (approximately US$213,500), up 90.75 percent from 448 million riel (around US$112,000) in the same period of 2025.

CSX attributed the stronger market performance to increased investor participation, the positive financial performance of listed companies and attractive dividend payouts during the 2026 dividend distribution season.

The exchange said investor confidence helped lift the CSX Index by 7.7 percent during the first semester, despite slight share price declines following dividend payments.

According to the NBC, Cambodia’s economy expanded by an estimated 3.5 percent in the first half of 2026, weighed down by global economic headwinds and several domestic factors.

However, the central bank expects economic growth to accelerate to 4.3 percent in the second half of the year, driven by stronger exports of garments, non-garment manufactured goods, and agricultural products, as well as continued inflows of foreign direct investment.

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has forecast that Cambodia’s economy will grow by 3.9 percent in 2026, reflecting the country’s resilience despite ongoing global uncertainties and domestic challenges.

Australia remains a vital partner in Cambodia’s development, reaffirming its commitment to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, institutional capacity building, and human resource development. The pledge was made during a meeting between H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and H.E. Dr. Anne Aly, Australia’s Minister for International Development, Small Business, and Multicultural Affairs.

Since 1992, Australia has provided nearly AU$2 billion (US$1.3 billion) in grant funding to Cambodia, supporting key sectors such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, health, and mine clearance. Beyond core funding, Australia continues to assist through the Cambodia-Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) program, energy crisis response initiatives, and social protection mechanisms like the IDPoor system.

Looking ahead to the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, Australia plans to expand ties under its Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. Both sides agreed to align future initiatives with Cambodia’s Vision 2050, delivering practical, high-impact projects that drive economic resilience and benefit the Cambodian people.
