First Rain of the Year in Phnom Penh Chaktomuk on 26 Feb. 40.3mm at my Gauge. That ends a run of 83 days without rain, 57 this year. It was a small storm centre so some places in the city had no rain. Last year the first rains were 23 feb but 2024 was the one to remember with no rain until 4 May, the record for my gauge of 153 days with no rain.

Vientiane to Luang Prabang High Speed Train that goes all the way to Kunming. Quite an impressive bit of infrastructure and beautiful views along the way. Good for tourists (especially a lot of Chinese in LP and VTN now). We were 30 minutes late waiting in a tunnel for the train coming the other way which seemed a bit odd. 'High speed' compared with the old lines in Cambodia but just seemed normal speed for Europe.
