🌊 Meaning of the Water Festival (Bon Om Touk)

The Water Festival is one of Cambodia’s biggest and most joyful national celebrations. It marks:

1. The reversing of the Tonlé Sap River’s flow — a natural and unique yearly event where the river changes direction after the rainy season.

2. The end of the rainy season and the start of the harvest season, symbolizing gratitude for water and fertile soil.

3. It also honors the navy and the strength of the nation, remembering ancient Khmer victories fought on waterways during the ancient time.

It’s a time of joy, unity, and national pride, when families from across Cambodia come together to celebrate by the river. Yet, this year it is not celebrated. Hope next year, we can enjoy it together.

Vegetarian food is one of my favorite dishes. I have been consuming for many years. Here it is that I usually cook vegetarian meal made with a mix of colorful and healthy ingredients. It includes:

Bok choy (Chinese cabbage) – the green leafy vegetable providing freshness and crunch.

Mushrooms – giving a rich, savory umami flavor.

Fried tofu pieces – golden brown on the outside and soft inside, adding protein and texture.

Ginger slices, which I use to substitute the Garlic to make it not disgusting– likely used for aroma and taste.

The dish looks lightly seasoned, probably with soy sauce or a mild vegetarian seasoning, creating a flavorful yet healthy meal.

It’s a simple, nutritious Asian-style vegetarian stir-fry — perfect to serve with rice or noodles. Vegetarian food is absolutely helpful to your health, so I would recommend to try it for a better health condition.
