The U.S. Army Recruiting Division (USARD) is expanding its mission to transform qualified applicants into U.S. Army Soldiers by strengthening their academic, physical, and administrative readiness before basic combat training.

As part of the effort, drill sergeants now report to Recruiting Command and play a direct role in preparing future soldiers earlier in the process.

Leaders say the change produces more disciplined, resilient soldiers and strengthens the force's readiness.
