During my stay here at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra I saw and experienced something no one should. The hotel had an event at the kids pool. They held a foam party and the foam covered the whole kids pool. There was so much foam no one knew the child was drowning. It was extremely difficult to see how everything unfolded and the most frustrating part was that no one knew what to do including myself. I don't know CPR and it seemed like none of the staff did too. A female guest ran over and started performing CPR on the child. The staff and managers brought out an oxygen tank and defibrillator but no one could open the oxygen tank. I ran over to try and open it but it wouldn't turn open. Another male guest came over to help as well but we were unsuccessful. Two ambulances arrived about 7 mins later and they took the child away. Still worried about the situation I went to the front and the ambulances did leave they were still trying to revive or treat the child. I couldn't get a clear look so I approached a manager asking why they aren't taking the child to the hospital and he replied back saying they are treating the child here. Over 10 minutes went by and they finally left. This is a 5 star hotel but the way the situation was handled was disturbing. I know everyone was trying their best but at such an upscale hotel they should have been better trained and prepared. After this whole incident the continued with the event and the hotel acted like nothing happened. This was the most disturbing part.
My paryers and thoughts go out to the child and family. I really hope the child survived.
