🩺 What Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Plastic Surgeon
We often spend hours researching hotels or restaurants, yet when it comes to something as personal as surgery, many people still rely on quick TikTok clips or a friend’s “doctor recommendation.”
The truth is, choosing the right plastic surgeon isn’t about who’s most famous, it’s about who’s right for you.
Before you book that consultation, here are a few questions that can completely change your experience and your results:
1️⃣ How many years have you specialized in this specific procedure?
Even if a surgeon has more than ten years of experience, that experience does not necessarily mean they are specialized in the specific procedure you are considering.
Ask for before-and-after photos from patients with similar facial or body types. Consistency matters more than popularity.
2️⃣ What’s your aesthetic philosophy?
Every doctor has a style: some prefer subtle and natural results, others lean toward more sculpted transformations.
If you want harmony rather than drastic change, say it clearly. This question reveals whether your goals align.
3️⃣ Who performs the actual procedure?
You’d be surprised how often the “main doctor” only oversees the process. Make sure the surgeon you’re consulting is the same person who will operate on you.
4️⃣ What is the plan for aftercare and follow-ups?
Surgery is only half the story; proper post-operative care determines both healing and the longevity of results.
Ask what’s included in aftercare: follow-up visits, laser treatments, or swelling management.
5️⃣ What are the possible complications, and how are they handled?
A confident and ethical doctor will never avoid this question.
If someone guarantees “no swelling” or “no downtime,” that’s a warning sign. Real professionals educate, not exaggerate.
