Fiona McDougall, MBA, Co-Owner and Director of Healthy Futures Ltd., will deliver the keynote address at the upcoming Ageing Forum, hosted by the Council of Older Persons.

Keynote: Empowering and Connecting Older Persons
Date: Saturday, 20 September 2025
Location: Westin Resort – Governor’s Ballroom
Time: 1:00 – 7:00 pm

Fiona’s keynote will explore three key areas:
1. The Cayman Islands Older Persons Amendment Act (2024) — what the changes mean for older persons and caregivers.
2. Innovations and Applications in AgeTech — how technology is enabling independence, safety, and connection.
3. Mental Health in Older Persons — addressing stigma, promoting wellbeing, and strengthening community support.

This conversation is of special importance to our co-founders, and reflects Healthy Futures’ commitment to connecting policy and innovation, including the thoughtful and responsible use of AI, to improve wellbeing and support mental health in our community.

This free event creates space for meaningful conversations and collective action to shape a more age-friendly Cayman Islands.

Rocking our Socks for World Down Syndrome Day!

At Healthy Futures, we celebrate the incredible contributions of people with Down syndrome and advocate for a world where everyone is valued for their unique strengths.

This year’s theme, “End the Stereotypes,” reminds us to challenge outdated assumptions and build more inclusive communities — at work, in schools, and in everyday life.

Why March 21st? The date (3/21) symbolizes the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome.

One of the simplest ways to raise awareness today is to wear bold socks! It’s a fun and meaningful way to spark conversations about diversity and inclusion.

But inclusion goes beyond just one day; let’s all take steps to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome — and all people with disabilities — have the opportunities, respect, and support they deserve, every day.

How are you marking World Down Syndrome Day this year?

We are proud to share that our very own Kellie Sandy has been appointed as a Councillor for the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce!

Kellie’s journey with the Chamber started at just 14 years old with Junior Achievement, where she won VP of Finance of the Year, and represented Cayman at the International JA Conference. She later completed Leadership Cayman, served as a mentor for several years, and engaged with Mentoring Cayman during her time as the 2015 Young Caymanian Leadership Award recipient.

Now, she is excited to serve alongside a distinguished group of Councillors in her new role —supporting businesses, empowering professionals, and driving a strong, sustainable future for Cayman’s economy.

Join us in congratulating Kellie on this well-deserved achievement! 👏
