It served its purpose but this is now how we want to be seen. All of the solar images are from our own installations with no "stock photos" and we'll be publishing many more shortly. The Cayman Renewable Energy Association says the country can not afford to continue spending the way it has been on fossil fuels. Cayman paid $158 million to fuel the dependence on petroleum products last year.

We believe that the path chosen by CUC and approved by our government and ERA is WRONG. The data showing this is overwhelming and growing daily.

While we may need CUC for some time to come, meeting our additional energy generation needs by the recently approved fossil fuel generators is 100% the wrong way to move forward in supplying energy to Cayman. The energy prices in Cayman are amongst the highest in the world and the impact of our exorbitant energy pricing carries a triple negative:

1. It is financially wasteful – we spend millions of dollars for diesel fuel each month that could be saved and those savings can be spent in the local markets.
2. The high costs for energy are fueling social unrest due to the negative financial burden on those that can least afford to pay.
3. It is wrong for the environment - the burning of fossil fuels has negative consequences for the health and well-being of the people of Cayman and also impacts the waters we enjoy.

What is happening in the electrical generation market worldwide is very clear and Cayman is moving in the opposite direction. CUC is not acting in the best interests of Cayman, it is acting in the best interests of its investors. Their best interest 100% opposes the best interests of the citizens of Cayman. The sooner our citizens, our government and the ERA take action on the issue as a country, the sooner we can begin towards sustainable prosperity again.
