Thrilled to share a pivotal moment in my professional and academic journey. As the Operational Excellence Director at KTR, a leading service, and oil and gas company, and a doctoral candidate in the DBA program at the University of Calgary, I find myself at an exciting crossroads where industry leadership meets academic rigor.
It's been almost 1.5 years since I embarked on my DBA journey, a path filled with rigorous coursework and deep dives into operational excellence and strategic alignment. As I pivot towards my research proposal paper, I'm eager to explore the complexities of operational excellence models, aiming to simplify them for practical application in the business world.
My research delves into the evolution of quality from craftsmanship to current methodologies. This journey isn't just academic—it reflects my commitment at KTR to drive continuous improvement and strategic alignment. I aim to discover effective continuous improvement methodologies for manufacturing firms of all sizes, addressing the challenges and high failure rates of such projects. Through a blend of quantitative and qualitative research methods, I plan to present a hybrid approach that meets the unique demands of both small and large manufacturing entities.
This phase of academic exploration has been immensely enriching, allowing me to apply theoretical frameworks to the operational strategies at KTR, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
What's Next: As I delve further into my DBA program, I'm preparing to engage in both quantitative and qualitative research to ground my findings in robust data and rich insights from across the manufacturing and service world. This dual approach will enhance the depth and applicability of my research, providing a comprehensive understanding of operational excellence that transcends theoretical boundaries.
Opportunity for Collaboration: I am actively seeking manufacturing and service industry leaders interested in assessing their corporate maturity and operational excellence levels. This collaboration will offer valuable insights for your organization's development and enrich my research with diverse perspectives. It's an unparalleled chance to evaluate your operational excellence and identify strategic improvements.
I am grateful for the myriad learning opportunities that have arisen from my role at KTR and my academic pursuits. As I advance in the research phase of my DBA program, I anticipate uncovering insights that will benefit the broader operational excellence and quality management community.
Stay tuned for updates that will shed light on practical strategies and frameworks designed to elevate operational practices and drive success across the board.
