On 8 May 2026, Savannakhet University (SKU) successfully organized the Third Structural Reform Meeting and the Seminar on “Using Learning Outcomes to Ensure Feasibility” under the framework of the Erasmus+ REAL Project.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks and an official opening address delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sithixay Xayavong, Acting Rector of Savannakhet University and Project Manager of the Erasmus+ REAL Project. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) in enhancing the quality, relevance, and sustainability of higher education. He also highlighted the university’s strategic commitment to implementing OBE across all academic programs in the coming academic years.

The meeting and seminar provided an important platform for academic leaders, lecturers, and project stakeholders to exchange ideas and strengthen institutional capacity in curriculum reform and quality assurance practices aligned with international standards.

A bridge of friendship has been built!

The Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sithixay XAYAVONG recently led a delegation to Hubei Normal University (HBNU), China, to formalize a partnership that will transform opportunities for our academic community.

This isn't just an agreement—it’s a commitment to excellence. By signing this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), SKU and HBNU are launching:

🧪 Joint Research in Chemistry, Biology, and Materials Science.

🎓 Exchange Programs for both students and faculty.

📈 Talent Development specifically designed to support the growing industry needs in central Laos.

As the Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sithixay XAYAVONG noted, our goal is to ensure that SKU graduates are not only leaders in Laos but are competitive across the entire region. We are proud to work hand-in-hand with our partners in China to build a "New Chapter of Friendship."

Savannakhet University (SKU) successfully participated in the Fourth General Meeting of the REAL Project, held from March 24–27, 2026. The assembly brought together regional partners to evaluate project milestones and establish a framework for long-term sustainability.

The SKU delegation, led by Vice-Rector for Administration Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phetsamone Khattiyavong, played a key role in sessions dedicated to teaching effectiveness. The team provided strategic insights into aligning pedagogical practices with project goals to ensure high-quality educational outcomes.

A major highlight was the REAL External Circle Scheme open session, where delegates explored ways to bridge the gap between higher education and industry. Discussions focused on strengthening stakeholder collaboration and developing structured internship programs to enhance graduate employability.

On 29 December 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sithixay Xayavong, Rector of Savannakhet University (Lao PDR), led a delegation to visit Wuzhou University, China. The visit focused on academic exchange, discipline development, industry–education integration, and cross-border talent cultivation, marking an important milestone toward strengthening long-term cooperation between the two universities.

Rector of Savannakhet University (Lao PDR), led a delegation to visit Guangxi Minzu Normal University People’s Republic of China and signing MOA

On December 31, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sithixay Xayavong, Rector of Savannakhet University (Lao PDR), led a delegation to visit Guangxi Minzu Normal University, China, where the two institutions officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
The agreement aims to promote faculty and student exchanges, joint research, Chinese language education, and the development of joint academic programs, strengthening educational quality and long-term academic cooperation.

2025年12月31日，老挝沙湾拿吉大学校长西提赛·赛亚冯博士率代表团访问中国广西民族师范学院，并正式签署合作备忘录（MOA）。
双方将围绕师生交流、联合科研、汉语教育以及合作办学项目开展合作，共同提升教育质量，推动长期学术交流与人才培养。

Savannakhet University (SKU) participated in the Third General Meeting of the REAL Project, held on between 8-11 December 2025. The meeting brought together partner institutions to review the project’s progress and discuss strategies for enhancing internal quality assurance and aligning higher education with labor market demands.
The SKU delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Xithixay Xayavong, the Acting Rector of SKU actively contributed to discussions on project implementation, shared institutional experiences, and explored opportunities for future collaboration.
