🇱🇦 Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Laos' Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, was elected to the 13-member Politburo of the 12th Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), state media reported.

Thongsavanh, 62, took office as foreign minister in late 2024. He fills the seat left vacant by his brother, former National Assembly President Xaysomphone Phomvihane, who died in early August at age 69.

He is now one of the 13 members of the Politburo, the principal policy-making body of both the party and the state.

西欧系のメディアによるラオスではキリスト教徒を迫害されているというようなニュースを見かけることが時折ありますが、仏教に関わるものはめずらしい気がします。

もっとも、これはちょっと異端と呼ばれるようなものなのかもしれませんが。
