What happens when a book born in exile begins to sing?

I’m pleased to share my latest Echoes Logos essay, “Hearing The Prophet: Two American Composers and the First Musical Life of Orphalese.”
Drawing on archival recordings and scores, the essay uncovers a forgotten chapter in the afterlife of Kahlil Gibran’s "The Prophet": how Gardner Read and Minuetta Kessler gave the book its first sustained musical voice—at once cathedral and intimacy. Through their work, a text born in displacement moved beyond circulation and exile, offering itself as something to be returned to, listened within, and dwelt in.

This piece is about music, memory, belonging, and what it means for a work of art to find a second life in sound.

How digital connectivity is keeping skilled Lebanese at home A Continuation of Reflections This essay continues my reflections on economic development and diaspora participation. 🚀 New Publication Alert!
❓ What happens when a country faces economic collapse but its professionals choose to stay and innovate? My latest essay, "Lebanon Online: Remote Work as a Lifeline Against Economic Migration," is now published.
I explore how Lebanese freelancers are turning digital connectivity into a tool for survival and renewal, transforming brain drain into brain circulation despite immense systemic barriers.

This work is also available on Academia[dot]edu, ResearchGate, and SSNR for those on those platforms.
I hope this piece contributes to the crucial conversations on the future of work in fragile economies, diaspora engagement, and building resilience from the ground up.
