What is EcoVadis?
EcoVadis is a third-party sustainability intelligence platform that rates companies on their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and sustainability performance. It's not a certification — it's a scorecard and medal system used by large multinationals to evaluate their suppliers.
How it works:
Companies invited by a buyer (or proactively registering) fill out a questionnaire covering 4 themes:
Environment — energy, emissions, water, biodiversity
Labor & Human Rights — working conditions, health & safety, child/forced labor
Ethics — anti-corruption, whistleblowing, fair business practices
Sustainable Procurement — supplier screening, responsible sourcing
EcoVadis analysts then review your answers + supporting documents and assign a score out of 100, translating into a medal.
Why it matters:
Major corporations like Nestlé, L'Oréal, Carrefour, and Renault require EcoVadis ratings from their suppliers. Without a score, you may be disqualified from tenders or supply chains entirely.
