Working as a Customs Clearance officer involves the preparation of Customs
documentation to ensure that any shipments either imported or exported meet all applicable laws so that entry or export can occur.
The job of the Customs Clearance officer is a very important role within Shipping & Logistics and can provide the perfect steppingstone to other senior roles within the industry.

opportunity to understand the import and export sector from a legal perspective.
A Customs Clearance officer is involved in determining the level of duties and
taxes to be paid including the processing of payments on behalf of clients.

Our company is hiring an import & export coordinator.
To join our team, please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications:

Duties & Responsibilities:
‐ Monitoring import and export shipments from departure till arrival; Assuring arrival of cargo to place of delivery & Updating clients accordingly
- Checking Shipment documents (Invoice, Packing list and Bill of lading); ensuring all required documents are correct /correct them when necessary to comply with requirements.
- Following up the clearance process for each shipment.
- Check and coordinate with customers regarding cargo delivery, offloading and loading containers (Shippers and Consignees).
- Ability to check customs declaration – knowledge of Najm system is a plus.
‐ Demanding for shipping rates and offering quotations to customers
‐ Assist customers and presenting the best services that suit them, in regards of rate, free demurrage, transit time and other.
‐ Booking containers, filling and sending necessary forms and all documents related to export shipments to the shipment companies (Bookings, Shipping Instructions, AWB, DGD...)
‐ Coordinating with shipping companies regarding the collection date, export and import formalities
‐ Issuing Marine insurance on behalf of the clients.
‐ Checking if destination countries require certificates and coordinate with issuance offices (COTECNA, BIVAC, PELICAN, and others)
‐ Filling and sending necessary forms to the inspection companies
‐ Preparing the bill of lading and checking compatibility with all commercial documents
‐ Contact the operation sections in Shipping agencies/ Airlines
‐ Administrative work (Scan and filing of the documents when shipment is done and file is closed.)

Qualifications:
- BA in Business administration
- Experience: 2 Years in the Freight Forwarding / Shipping field.

Skills:
- Fluent in English and Arabic (French is a plus)
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Quick Learner
- Problem solver

- Prepare and submit Invoicing
- Learn and utilize accounting programs
- Process bill payment and complete funds movement.
- Submitting Journal entries
- Printing receipts.
- Assist with varied QuickBooks data entry
- Handle general office administrative duties including support management as requested, Scan and filing of the documents when shipments are invoiced and file is closed.)
- Coordinate and assist internal and external customers with shipping documents.
- Liaise with staff to complete assigned work.


Qualifications:
- BA in in accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience: 2 Years.

Skills:
- Fluent in English and Arabic (French is a plus)
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Comfortable with various computer programs
- Must be detailed orientated and have good organizational skills

The latest ranking of the world's top 100 liner companies by capacity (August 2023)

According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of August 5th, the number of container ships in operation in the world totaled 6,674, with a total capacity of 2,755,700 TEU or 329 million dwt. Among them, the total shipping capacity of the top three liner companies accounted for 46.71% of the global market.

The top three shipping companies in the world are Mediterranean Shipping Company (5,212,500 TEU, accounting for 18.92%), Maersk Line (4,146,300 TEU, accounting for 15.05%), and CMA CGM (3,512,700 TEU, accounting for 12.75%).

Alphaliner pointed out that the fourth and tenth places in terms of shipping capacity are: COSCO SHIPPING, Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, Evergreen, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Yang Ming and Zim. Among them, the capacity of the top seven is more than 1.5 million TEU.

Ranked 11th to 20th are: Wan Hai Lines, PIL, SITC International, Koryo Shipping (KMTC), X-Press Feeders Group, Iran Air (IRISL), Zhonggu Shipping, UniFeeder, Sea Lead Shipping and Changjin merchant ship.
