There are a few theories of why New Orleans is called “The Big Easy”. During prohibition, it was easy to get alcohol here. Creatives who live here have an easier time as well with the city supporting the arts and musicians in their craft. They say the name was given as the alternative to the “Big Apple” - dog eat dog/NYC vibe. The culture here is looser and meant to cultivate a way of life where it’s easy to live not only in a comfortable way, but one that encourages self expression.

Theres plenty here - from over the top color to aged textures with florals, lace, latex, religion and a touch of the occult. Everyone is welcome.

Keeping your s**t together is always in fashion.

I read an article in this weekend about how the US has slipped from the top ten on the list of the most happiest countries. The article most specifically cited those under 30 - the Gen Z era.

There’s rumblings of a much needed fashion rebellion in the air - a return to street fashion where what you wear isn’t based on monetary or social status…but pure self expression.

Creativity can heal…it’s time.

Upcycling is nothing new. Etsy has been pumping out tee shirt scrap quilts for years... but not like …who’s challenging other creatives to “make it fashion”.

Her new show .fushun comes out tomorrow, where the challenge is to create disruptive, upcycled looks that are runway…and weird Barbie worthy.
