Roles and Responsibilities:
• SME Assessments: carry out assessments with SMEs according to established criteria, tools and specific requirements (necessary training to carry out such assessments will be provided).
• SME Follow Up and Communication: conduct one-to-one follow up, discussions and communicate key messages to SMEs as required; liaise with and report to relevant INDEP staff, Trainers, and Assistant Trainers during and after implementation of activities, and as required.
• Maintain SME Data and Reports: Maintain SME datasets up-to-date; draft and submit reports in the templates provided.
• Non-Discrimination and Sensitivity: Ensure that at all times contact with all stakeholders including SMEs is conducted in a sensitive and respectful manner.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Management, Human Resources, Economics or related discipline is essential.
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; no prior working experience is required.
• Candidates in close proximity to Battaramulla area are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication skills are a must to have; Fluency in English, Sinhala and/or Tamil is essential.
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, able to travel, and a good team player.

INDEP Research International (INDEP) is a research organization that enables evidence-based decision making among humanitarian and development actors, governments, private sector and civil society. INDEP provides research, monitoring and evaluation, strategy development, knowledge management, and business development and advisory services to various institutions, catering to a variety of needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Draft Reports and Communication Materials: Write, edit, and distribute content, including proposals, concept notes, publications, press releases, website content, reports, and other material that communicates the organization's activities, and services.
• Maintain Data and Reporting Systems: Keep up-to-date of all developments related to preparing appropriate reports, briefing and background notes, meeting minutes and other documentation as required; Contribute to field activities, data collections; Maintain data related to projects, processes, and performances are effectively collected, recorded, stored, and presented in an efficient and effective manner in order to support timely decision making.
• Update Social Media: Collaborate with management to develop and implement effective social media updates based on our target audience; Keep all social media pages up-to-date; respond to social media inquiries as necessary.
• Effective Communication: communicate effectively and timely with all relevant stakeholders as directed by line manager.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor`s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, journalism or a related discipline is essential.
• No prior work experience required; recent graduates will be given priority.
• Candidates in close proximity to Battaramulla area are encouraged to apply.
• Proven excellent English speaking, writing, crafting and editing skills are mandatory.
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, able to travel, and a good team player.

conducted a study and produced a learning paper for Advancing Agricultural Markets in Syria (AAMS) Project implemented by Near East Foundation (NEF) in Northeast funded by USAID.

The learning paper incorporated findings and learning on the issues related to household level socioeconomic situation, food security and coping, inclusion, food systems, market systems, social cohesion, stabilization, capacity building, climate adaptation, and disaster readiness and response.

Contributing to and in the :

sensitized trainers providing with , post-training follow-ups and to gender issues through an interactive online session provided by a gender specialist. Trainers enthusiastically took part, creating an interesting dialogue, and later requesting further sensitization and training.

Gender sensitization is the process of changing people’s behavior by raising their awareness on gender equality issues. Trainers are respected and listened to by training participants who are SME owners or managers. With sensitization, trainers could pass the message on gender equality, elimination of discrimination, and prevention of violence against women and girls to participating SMEs. SMEs can then contribute to eliminating gender-based prejudices, attitudes and stereotypes in working cultures within their businesses and society.

We identify, analyse and respond to specific needs!

It is vital to identify specific training needs of target SMEs prior to creating a training program, in order to craft a well-designed training programme. INDEP thus conducted a thorough needs assessment that included field visits to selected SMEs, held one-day workshops in each District and conducted 100 individual assessments.
