Junior Inventor of the Year (JIY) 2025 – Ampara District Successfully Concluded!

The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) – Ampara District Centre successfully conducted the Ampara District JIY 2025 Competition on 21st September 2025 at KM/Al-Ashraq M.M.V. (National School), Nintavur.

A total of 23 innovative projects from schools across Ampara District were presented, showcasing the creativity, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking of our young students. 👏✨

The IESL Ampara District Centre Family Get-Together was successfully held on 07.02.2026, bringing together over 85 participants, including engineers and their family members, for a truly memorable day.

It was a wonderful and refreshing evening filled with joy, laughter, children’s games, friendly competitions, family games, and a delightful dinner. Seeing families connect, kids enjoy freely, and everyone sharing happy moments made the event truly special. 💙👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🏏✨ IESL Cricket Fiesta 2025 – Celebrating Cricket, Camaraderie & Engineering Spirit ✨🏏

On 24th January 2026, at the iconic Bloomfield Cricket Ground, Colombo, members from the IESL Ampara District Centre proudly participated in the IESL Cricket Fiesta 2025, representing the Eastern Chapter.

With nine teams competing from nine provincial chapters, the event brought together engineers from across the country for a day filled with competitive cricket, loud cheers, shared laughter, and genuine friendship. It was truly a beautiful sight to see engineers bonding beyond professional boundaries and celebrating unity through sport. 💙

The special presence of Dasun Shanaka, Captain of the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team, added great excitement and inspiration to this memorable occasion. 🌟

A big appreciation to the IESL Sports Committee and all organizers for delivering such a well-coordinated and energetic event. Moments like these perfectly capture the true essence of the IESL community—together, stronger, and spirited.

The IESL Ampara District Centre successfully conducted its webinar session on "Public Procurement Practices" at 13th of January 2026, via Zoom, with over 80 active participation from engineers across various sectors.

🔹 Topic: Public Procurement Practices
🔹 Resource Person: Eng. S.L.A. Shajith
Senior Engineer – Road Development Authority
(Chartered Engineer, FIESL)

The session provided valuable insights into the public procurement framework in Sri Lanka, covering best practices, procedural requirements, and common challenges. Drawing from his extensive experience serving as Chairman/Member of Bid Evaluation Committees (BEC) and Procurement Committees (PC), Eng. Shajith shared practical knowledge that was highly relevant to practicing engineers.

Participants actively engaged throughout the session, making it an informative and interactive learning experience.
