📊 How will applicants be ranked?

The new Victorian Points Test considers:

✅ Age – Up to 300 points
✅ English – Up to 200 points
✅ Skilled Work Experience – Up to 100 points
✅ Education – Up to 100 points
✅ Partner Skills – Up to 50 points
✅ Victorian Earnings – Up to 150 points

⚠️ Important: There is no fixed passing score under the VPT. Applicants will be ranked competitively, and meeting the requirements does not guarantee an invitation.

The Student visa changes previously announced have now officially commenced from 2 October 2026 and are reflected in the Migration Regulations and associated legislative instruments. (Legislation Australia)

Key changes affect:

🔹 Inclusion of family members
🔹 Certain Student visa applications that must now be lodged offshore
🔹 Requirements for certain applicants to be outside Australia at the time of visa grant

The new amendments apply to relevant applications made on or after 2 October 2026. Exemptions and specific circumstances apply. (Legislation Australia)

Australia continues to be a major destination for international students — but the latest official data shows an interesting shift in the market.

📊 687,810 international students studied in Australia through June 2026.

While overall international student numbers declined 7% year-on-year, one sector is moving in the opposite direction:

🎓 Higher Education enrolments increased by 2%

And within higher education:

🔹 Master’s by coursework — 43%
🔹 Bachelor’s degrees — 41%
🔻 ELICOS enrolments — down 27%

The message is clear: students are increasingly focusing on quality higher education and meaningful study pathways.
