JASTECA Madam Ogawa Scholarship Programme - 2026
The Japan Sri Lanka Technical & Cultural Association (JASTECA) continued its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the Madam Ogawa Scholarship Programme, with a special ceremony held at Batagolla Pussadewa National School in Nuwara Eliya on 14 June 2026.
This year, 25 students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who demonstrated strong academic potential were selected to receive scholarships to support their GCE Advanced Level studies. Each recipient will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 5,000, deposited directly into an individual bank account to ensure transparency and accountability.
The beneficiaries were selected through a rigorous process conducted in collaboration with the Zonal Education Director of Nuwara Eliya, ensuring fairness while giving due consideration to both academic merit and financial need.
The event brought together officials from the Zonal Education Office, the school's principal and staff, members of the JASTECA Executive Committee, parents, donors, and well-wishers to celebrate the programme's continued contribution to educational development.
JASTECA President Mr. Mangala Samarajeewa stated that the association remains firmly committed to promoting education and creating opportunities for deserving students through the Madam Ogawa Scholarship Programme, which has been making a meaningful impact for over 25 years.
The scholarship programme is funded through generous contributions from individual donors, sponsors, and a dedicated education fund established by Madam Ogawa, a long-time friend of Sri Lanka whose support has been devoted exclusively to educational development.
For more than 25 years, the Madam Ogawa Scholarship Programme has supported over 600 students across Sri Lanka, enabling them to continue their education and pursue brighter futures.
