An innovative digital program by IFC, in partnership with Women's Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) and Women’s International Foundation (WIF), supports Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs during COVID-19
As the economic shocks of COVID-19 ripple across different industries in Sri Lanka, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) – especially those women-owned were the worst hit. As part of the move to help ensure businesses could adapt and survive, IFC – under the IFC-DFAT Women in Work program – designed an innovative training concept.
The 15-week program covered an array of modules including entrepreneurship, taxation, marketing, supply chain, digital finance and financial literacy.

What is Professional Career Development?
When a person undertakes professional career development, he or she learns new job skills to enhance current career opportunities or to enter a different field altogether. Some professional fields, for example, require a certain number of continuing education or professional development hours in order to maintain certifications and licenses. There are many different ways to learn new skills for such development, including earning an undergraduate or graduate degree, in-service classes sponsored by the employer, conducting research, reading professional journals, or attending workshops or conferences. Many employees are required to develop a professional development plan based on current job performance, outlining their professional goals for a particular period of time, usually a year or longer. Although not absolutely necessary, some people use a career counselor to assist them in making career development plans.

RAHAMA Staff Assessment Report 2022
This assessment was done by VIJAY Management Consultants, on the request of Secretary General of RAHAMA. As per the discussion with him, he has stated that the RAHAMA Board observed few serious and negative indicators on staff and project such as delays in project activities, target failures, increased number of audit quarries etc., which are triggering the overall project management failure. In addition, the recent ID/OS training report stated few recommendations based on few serious weaknesses found from the expression by staff, which affect the overall performance of the organization, especially delays in the operations and targets.
RAHAMA planned to conduct a mid-year staff appraisal along with mid-term review and developed appraisal formats to staff appraisal, but SG decided to do a staff review by a 3rd party instead of appraisal. This staff review was done to discuss with staff to understand the reality of the present situation, and then analyze the key issues to recommend suggestions to the board as requested.
The outcome of the review will be presented to the Board for the feedback, then Management Team for suggestions and will be presented to the staff team or as per SG’s guidance. The short and long term action plan could be developed by the Management Team and it could be under the guidance of an External Consultant/Project Management Specialist.
