There is a quietness to Ruwanweliseya that is difficult to put into words.

Standing at the western entrance, with the great white stupa rising gently into the sky, everything seems to slow down. The sounds fade, the crowds feel distant, and for a moment, there is only stillness, space and a sense of peace.
