An evening of meaningful dialogue and strategic insight at the Colombo Geoeconomics Conference 2026, held on the 6th of February at Taj Samudra. The conference featured expert perspectives on navigating economic uncertainty, fostering geoeconomic investment, and strengthening strategic partnerships in a rapidly evolving global environment.

This event marked the beginning of a strategic partnership between the Centre for Law and Security Studies (CLASS) the Chintan Research Foundation (CRF), India, aimed at strengthening long-term engagement on geoeconomic and strategic issues.

CLASS Executive Director Mr. Nilan Niruthan conducted an interview with the Indian Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, on the theme of disaster diplomacy as a facet of India Sri Lanka relations. The interview was conducted as a primer to develop an exclusive analysis on GRI and to develop CLASS policy paper exploring disaster response, mitigation and early warning capabilities and organizational structure in Sri Lanka and lessons learnt from India.

Our Executive Director, Nilan Niruthan , attended the Diners’ Club session at the Army War College as the Chief Guest, where he shared insights on the importance of an indigenous doctrine for Sri Lanka, rethinking non-alignment, the risks and value of generational partnerships with major powers, and the need to strengthen local capacities.

He also discussed the role of emerging technology in future warfare and its implications for foreign diplomacy and military strategy.

The Army War College hosted a Diners’ Club session on 23 October 2025, focusing on ‘Modern Warfare’. The event featured Mr. Nilanthan Niruthan, Executive Director of the Centre for Law and Security Studies (CLASS), Colombo, as the Guest Speaker.
