AI හින්දා 1.8 Million Sri Lankans ලගේ Jobs නැතිවෙනවා කියලා ගිය Post වල ඇත්ත.
මේ posts වල source එකක් mention කරලා තිබුණේ නෑ,
ඒත් මේ numbers එන්නේ Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) publish කරපු research එකකින්.
📌 IPS report එකේ exact wording එක මෙන්න (English):
“In Sri Lanka, about 1.83 million workers (22.8% of the employed population) are in jobs that have some exposure to Generative AI.”
මෙතන key word එක “exposure”.
Exposure කියන්නේ jobs immediately lose වෙනවා කියන එක නෙමෙයි.
AI එක job එකට touch වෙනවා, job කරන විදිහ change වෙනවා කියන එක.
ඒ නිසා “AI එන නිසා 18 lakh jobs disappear” කියන headline එක
simple, scary, but misleading.

AI jobs වලට බලපාන විදිහ mainly 3ක් තියෙනවා.
1. Automation.
Routine, repetitive, document-based work – data entry, basic clerical tasks වගේ දේවල් AI එක humans ට වඩා faster, cheaper, error-free කරලා දානවා.
මෙතන jobs අඩුවෙන risk එක තියෙනවා – ඒක IPS report එකත් accept කරන දෙයක්.
2. Augmentation.
Doctors, engineers, lawyers, software developers වගේ high-skill jobs වල, AI job එක replace කරන්නේ නෑ.
AI tools use කරලා same person එක better decisions, higher productivity, more value create කරනවා.
Human + AI = stronger output.
3. Transformation.
Especially ICT, BPM, admin roles වගේ service sectors වල,
job title එක same වුණත් job කරන විදිහ completely redesign වෙනවා.
Manual workflows → AI-assisted workflows.
Job එක නැති වෙන්නේ නෑ, නමුත් job එක same old way එකට තියෙන්නෙත් නෑ.

එහෙම නම් Sri Lanka එකට risk එක වැඩි වෙන්නේ ඇයි?
- අපිට public sector එකේ document-heavy administrative jobs ලක්ෂ ගණනක් තියෙනවා.
- අපේ service exports බොහෝ දුරට cheap labour model එකට depend වෙලා තියෙනවා,
- නමුත් global clients දැන් AI-first delivery models වලට shift වෙනවා.
- ඒකටම අමතරව, අපේ education සහ training systems industry speed එකට adapt වෙන්නේ slow.
ඒ නිසා මෙතන real problem එක AI නෙමෙයි.
Real problem එක අපි adapt වෙන්නේ කොච්චර slow ද කියන එක.
AI කියන්නේ job destroyer එකක් කියලා panic share කරන එක misleading.
"AI actually changes where value sits inside a job"
අද job value එක තියෙන්නේ typing, copying, formatting, manual reporting වගේ tasks වල නෙමෙයි. AI ඒ දේවල් already කරලා දානවා.
Value එක shift වෙලා තියෙන්නේ thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, human judgement, creativity වගේ areas වලට.
ඒ නිසා job එක survive වෙනවාද නැද්ද කියලා තීරණය වෙන්නේ
AI එක්ක fight කරනවද, නැත්තම් AI එක්ක work කරනවද කියන choice එක මත.
Sri Lanka එකට අවශ්ය වෙන්නේ fear posts නෙමෙයි.
අවශ්ය වෙන්නේ preparation posts.
Preparation කියන්නේ,
- workers ට new skills දෙන එක
- existing jobs වල AI tools smart විදිහට integrate කරන එක
- education, training, HR, public policy systems real market needs වලට align කරන එක......
AI-driven world එකේ job security කියන්නේ
“same job, same skills, lifelong” කියන concept එක නෙමෙයි.
Job security කියන්නේ learn → adapt → relearn කරන ability එක.
Bottom line එක simple:
AI Sri Lanka එකට threat එකක් වෙන්නේ – අපි change එක ignore කලොත්.
AI Sri Lanka එකට opportunity එකක් වෙන්නේ –
workers, organisations, educators, policy-makers together adapt උනානම්.
