Sri Lanka’s economic reform agenda is continuing to advance, with the International Monetary Fund Executive Board scheduled to review the combined Fifth and Sixth Reviews under the Extended Fund Facility on May 27.

IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Evan Papageorgiou stated that Sri Lanka has made considerable progress in restoring economic stability, rebuilding foreign reserves, and improving confidence among investors and stakeholders.

He noted that while recent global developments have created fresh economic pressures worldwide, Sri Lanka’s current policy framework is significantly more resilient than in the past.

Papageorgiou also stressed that maintaining policy consistency and allowing the economy to adapt to changing global conditions will be crucial to preserving the progress achieved so far, while reaffirming the IMF’s continued support for Sri Lanka’s reform programme.

Meet Kasun Weerasooriya, CEO & Sachithra Wijayasingha, CTO/COO of Enonte Innovation Labs - two engineers who got tired of watching brilliant teams drown in data and decided to build a lifeline. 🇱🇰

Picture this...It's 2AM in a data center somewhere in the world.
An exhausted engineer is staring at 12 different dashboards.
Thousands of alerts. Blinking. Screaming. Saying nothing useful.

Coffee cold. Eyes burning.
And the one question nobody can answer.

"What actually caused the problem?"

Kasun felt it.
Sachithra felt it.
Their entire team felt it.

So instead of accepting it as "just how IT works".

They built the answer.

Right here in Sri Lanka, this duo led a powerhouse engineering team to create two AI platforms that are about to change how the world manages enterprise infrastructure forever.

Nexvanta - One intelligent layer that sees your entire tech stack, detects anomalies, predicts failures, and actually *explains* what went wrong and what to do next. No more dashboard hopping. Just answers.

Enonte Pulse - A deep-diving AI heartbeat for VMware environments. It thinks like a senior engineer — spotting patterns, forecasting capacity, isolating root causes — so your team doesn't have to lose sleep over it.

Kasun says it best:
"Engineers should not have to spend hours moving between dashboards just to understand the root cause of a problem."

And Sachithra adds:
"We built it to reduce downtime, reduce engineer burnout, and help service providers deliver a better experience to their customers."

Two people. One shared mission.
To prove that world-class enterprise AI can - and should - be built from Sri Lanka.

This isn't just a product launch.
It's a statement.

And the world is listening.

In addition, the SLTDA reported that 75,465 tourists entered the country between May 1 and May 17, 2026.

Sri Lanka is preparing to launch a pilot rainwater harvesting project to help meet increasing future water needs, according to Minister of Construction and Water Supply Dr. Susil Ranasinghe.

The Minister stated that the project will focus on making better use of rainwater for non-potable purposes, including gardening, landscaping, and washing vehicles.

Dr. Ranasinghe also raised concerns about the long-term sustainability of the country’s water supply. He explained that the Western Region of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board currently serves around 1.3 million consumers. He questioned whether, over the next ten years, the Board would be able to treat and distribute enough water to satisfy increasing demand, and whether the Kelani River would continue to provide sufficient water resources to support those needs.

He further noted that Colombo experiences rainfall for most of the year, except for short dry spells, and stressed the need to collect and use rainwater in homes, government offices, and other institutions for everyday practical purposes.

Under the first stage of the programme, the government plans to install technologically advanced rainwater harvesting systems in at least 100 state institutions across the Colombo District. According to the Minister, the initiative is also intended to raise public awareness about the importance of conserving water.
