Local insights for a stronger and more sustainable Kataragama.
As part of the consultancy project, โPreparation of the Comprehensive and Integrated Tourism Promotion & City Branding Plan for Kataragama,โ the PLAN B Tech Consultants Pvt Ltd project team conducted a series of field visits and discussions with eco-tourism related hotel owners, hotel managers, local business operators and shop owners in Kataragama.
These discussions provided an opportunity to introduce the project objectives, understand the current tourism environment and gather first-hand information on the needs, challenges, opportunities and expectations of local tourism stakeholders.
Through direct engagement with those who interact with visitors on a daily basis, the team gained valuable insights into areas such as visitor behaviour, accommodation and service expectations, local business conditions, tourism seasonality, environmental concerns, destination image and opportunities for strengthening eco-tourism experiences in Kataragama.
The knowledge and practical experiences shared by local stakeholders are an important input to the planning process, helping us to develop a tourism promotion and city-branding strategy that is locally grounded, environmentally responsible and supportive of local livelihoods.
By listening to the voices of those who live, work and invest in Kataragama, we aim to ensure that the future brand of the destination reflects not only its sacred and cultural identity, but also the aspirations of the community that brings the destination to life.
