MATTER: exists in the world or environment basically in three forms named solid, liquid & gas. When a matter is concerned in a Solid state it has a distinctive fixed dimensional physical shape with a given mass. All the molecules bonded together without any freedom for molecular movement under normal existence with zero degrees of movement.
Whereas liquid is concerned, though, for particular mass, it takes different volumetric shapes depending on the physical shape of the container in which it is contained and subject to extent of fullness or emptiness. The molecules are slight par apart but within close proximity and loosely bonded under limited movement capability. Liquid shows no compressibility or very minute when subject to pressure in a closed vessel.
The matter in gas form exhibits basic physical properties completely different than that of solids & liquids. A particular mass takes the volumetric shape of the container in which it is contained, if colorless and odorless no one can sense it through the native senses. The molecules are very free to move significantly and the movements of molecules are very responsive to changes in temperature. The gaseous matter is highly compressible compared to liquid. A gas becomes liquefied form when it reaches both Critical temperature and critical pressure. The triple point of a substance is the temperature and pressure at which three forms of gas, liquid & solid exist.
Due to certain similar behavioral characteristics that exist among liquid & gas in common, they are collectively defined as fluid for easy understanding of technology in connection with fluid handling equipment.
