🎓 Another step towards building AI literacy among Sri Lankan students! VTA Sector

We were delighted to celebrate the achievements of the students at VTA Ballapana who successfully completed the AI Literacy for All – AI Fundamentals Programme and received their certificates. 🎓 🤖

Among the VTA sector, VTA Ballapana was selected for this valuable opportunity, and we truly appreciate the enthusiasm, commitment, and participation shown by the students throughout the programme.

Congratulations to all the students on this achievement! We look forward to seeing you continue your AI learning journey. 🚀 ✨

Through the programme, students built a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence, explored practical AI tools, learned the basics of prompt engineering, and gained an understanding of the responsible use of AI, preparing them for an increasingly AI-driven future.

Thank you APNIC Foundation for the recognition and support.

For many National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) across the Asia Pacific, making effective use of Generative AI requires more than access to new tools. It requires the skills, knowledge and institutional capacity to apply them meaningfully.

That was the focus of AP-GAINED, an ISIF Asia project implemented by the LEARN.

Across 17 workshops, 676 people were trained, with 93.2% of participants from developing economies. The project also created a Certified Trainer Program, enabling participants to take the learning further and deliver training independently. By expanding the pool of trainers, the project created a force multiplier for closing digital skills gaps within institutions and beyond.

The impact is already extending beyond the project, helping unlock new funding to scale Generative AI training across the region.

🚀 Bringing AI learning closer to students across Sri Lanka!

As part of the AI for All - AI Fundamentals Programme, LEARN took AI education beyond the screen - conducting engaging physical sessions for students at College of Technology Kurunegala, College of Technology Kandy, and SLIIT Kandy Uni. 📚🤖

“AI for All” is a completely free certificate programme designed to equip students with essential AI knowledge and practical skills. The programme is primarily conducted online, with selected physical sessions held in collaboration with participating institutes.

Students will have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of AI, AI tools for productivity, prompt engineering, responsible AI use, and more - while building the skills needed for an increasingly AI-driven future. 🚀

🌐 Cyber resilience is built before a crisis begins.

At APAN62 in Auckland, research and education network leaders from across the Asia-Pacific signed the Auckland Declaration of Intent on Cyber Resilience - a shared commitment to strengthen trust, preparedness, information sharing, incident coordination and mutual support across our regional community.

Research and education are deeply international. So when disruption happens, our response needs to be connected too.

Signed at the APAN/Asi@Connect Leaders Forum, the declaration brings together leaders from TEIN*CC/Asi@Connect, Asia Pacific Advanced Network and REANNZ Ltd., and recognises that resilience is not only about technology. It is also about the relationships, trust and cooperation that allow people to act quickly when it matters.

A proud moment for APAN in Auckland, and an important step for regional collaboration across the research and education network community.

🎓 Celebrating another milestone in building AI literacy across Sri Lanka!

LEARN, in collaboration with University of Peradeniya, proudly hosted the 3rd AI for All – AI Fundamentals Certificate Awarding Ceremony, recognizing participants who successfully completed the programme.

"AI for All" is a free, fully online, 5-week AI certificate programme designed for university undergraduates and TVET students in Sri Lanka. Through this initiative, over 5,000 learners have already gained essential AI knowledge and practical skills for their academic and professional journeys.
