Layers of Life": When fashion becomes a tribute to motherhood on the global stage. 🌺✨
At the recent Miss World Designer Award presentation, Miss Uganda (Muhoza Trivia Elle) captivated the world with an extraordinary creation titled "Layers of Life." Far beyond just a dress on a runway, it was a living piece of art celebrating the magic, pain, and triumph of birth.
Designed by Ugandan fashion designer Keesha Abdallah, the dress draws inspiration from the 7 anatomical layers surgeons pass through during a C-section:
Skin
Fat (Subcutaneous tissue)
Fascia
Muscle
Peritoneum
Uterus
Amniotic sac
Drawing from her own personal journey through motherhood, Keesha beautifully translated these seven medical steps into an exquisite garment, using contrasting color palettes, varied fabric textures, and sculpted forms to reveal each layer step-by-step.
While pageant fashion often focuses solely on superficial aesthetics, this design truly embodies the core essence of "Beauty with a Purpose."
Globally, millions of women give birth via C-section, yet many cultures treat the resulting scars as something to hide. "Layers of Life" proudly reframes those scars and the medical process as symbols of sacrifice, resilience, and ultimate strength. It reminds us that fashion can express human emotion, pain, and triumph in their rawest forms.
