Most of the calls we get start the same way.
“I have a small lab at home where I make my products. How do I register them with NMRA?”
We have to gently explain the same thing every time. What you have is a kitchen or a back room, not a manufacturing facility. NMRA does not register products manufactured locally without proper GMP certification, and the courses that taught you to formulate did not always tell you the full picture.
Here is how the process actually works for a locally manufactured cosmetic:
✅ Set up a dedicated manufacturing facility, separate from your home
✅ Proper layout: raw material store, production area, packing, finished goods store, QC area
✅ Implement ISO 22716:2007 GMP system and get certified by an accredited certification body
✅ Once GMP certified, submit your product dossier to NMRA
✅ NMRA reviews and grants product registration
NMRA does not issue GMP. They register products. The GMP certificate comes from an independent accredited certification body, and that certificate is what NMRA needs to see before they accept your application.
This is not a small step. Setting up a compliant facility, building the quality system, and going through certification takes investment, time, and the right guidance. But it is the only legal path to selling your cosmetic in Sri Lankan stores, pharmacies, or online with proper labels.
We help you with the GMP setup and consultation, prepare you for the certification audit, and once certified, handle the NMRA product registration end to end.
If you are formulating from home and serious about turning it into a real brand, talk to us before you spend more on packaging and branding. We will walk you through what a proper setup looks like, what it costs, and how to get there step by step.
