You MUST keep posting content
Consistency is king
If you don't post for 4 weeks, everyone will forget you exist!

My brain convinces me that the moment I step offline, someone will desperately need a Leadership Workshop, an Executive Coaching package, or a Q4 Wellness Session.

I imagine them thinking, "Well, I would have hired Gemma, but she's vanished."

But this year I've decided that I'm done being a slave to social media.

So, I’m officially checking out for the summer to eat BBQs, play in the forest, and be present with my kids.

I'll see you in 4 weeks, refreshed and recharged 😊

PS: If you are looking to book leadership workshops, executive coaching, StrengthsFinder sessions, or something else... I’ll still be checking emails and messages once a day (for 10 minutes). So drop me a message and I'll get back to you 😎

Honoured to be featured in the Middle East Uncovered magazine 😃

Alongside my leadership training and executive coaching, I run a practice as a Pain Recovery Coach. It’s a unique, cutting-edge field rooted in modern neuroscience.

Did you know that all pain is created in the brain?

Yet, the traditional medical system rarely touches the surface. Whether it’s back pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, skin rashes or [fill in your symptom] the focus is almost always on covering up symptoms rather than addressing the root cause.

Why aren't we focusing on turning the pain signal down in the brain itself?

That's what I do 💪 🧠

I'm incredibly grateful to Olivia Cuthbert from this publication for showcasing what is truly possible in the world of recovery. If you're frustrated with temporary fixes and looking for results that last send me a DM for more info.

Is it ok to ask for help?

When you find yourself living with ongoing pain, whether it's back pain, migraines or something else, it can be tempting to get into the trap of asking for help to avoid having to do the exact thing you fear e.g. bending. Or you may find that people are proactivey offering to help you.

Q. 'Can you pass me [fill in blank] so that I don't need to bend'
Q. 'Can you organise [fill in blank] because I have a migraine]'
Q. 'Let me help you with [fill in blank] because I know you are struggling'

But part of re-training your brain to unlearn pain is getting to a place of indifference and being able to tell your brain you are safe regardless of the symptoms. Every time you ask for help because of the symptoms you're training your brain that there is something wrong.

BUT... having said that.... There are times when you absolutely should ask for help. Just like normal people can and do ask for help from their friends.

It's about identifying if you are asking for help because of the symptoms or just because you are a human 😊

The path to pain recovery is rarely a straight line

It's full of twists and turns and one of the best things you can do when you're in a valley is to borrow hope from someone who has already made it through. Seeing proof that the messy path actually goes somewhere changes everything.

On that note, I’m incredibly honored to share that I've been added to Living Proof. They are a fantastic UK-based organisation dedicated to all things neuroplastic pain.

If you are looking for hope... Check out the recovery stories (link in the comments)

If you have a recovery story you'd like to share, reply to this email. Let me know, and we can work together to get you added to the platform.

And remember... a flare-up isn't a failure. It’s just an overprotective nervous system doing its job a little too well.

Sometimes, staying in the game means knowing when to drop back, ask for help, and let your friends block the wind for a bit.

Work smarter, not harder 🤣

If you think the path to recovery from persistent pain is going to be linear, you are wrong.

It's never linear. It looks like this image 😜

Why? Because your nervous system is essentially a hyper-vigilant security guard.

The moment you start making progress, the day you finally decide to walk a little further or sit without bracing, your brain panics. It thinks you’re doing something dangerous, so it fires off a massive flare of pain to force you to stop.

When I was trapped in years of chronic back pain, I used to think these flare-ups meant I was re-injuring myself. I’d freak out, go back to the couch, and reinforce the exact fear loop my brain was trying to feed me.

The real turning point for me wasn't finding a magic stretch, it was learning to sit with a flare-up and realise it was just a false alarm. Recovery isn't about never feeling pain again; it's about teaching your brain that you are safe, even when it’s screaming at you to stop.

Pain recovery isn’t a straight line.

If you think it’s a smooth, linear path from A to B, a flare-up can feel like a massive defeat. I used to think every setback meant I was right back to square one with my chronic back pain.

But here’s what’s actually happening:

Your nervous system is acting like a hyper-vigilant security guard. When you make progress—like going for that short run—your brain panics. It misinterprets the movement as danger and triggers a false alarm.

That pain? It’s often a wave of protection, not a sign of new damage.

The real turning point?

Learning to sit with the wave, breathe through it, and teach your brain that you are completely safe.

Recovery isn’t about never feeling pain again. It’s about retraining your brain’s safety settings. Keep going. You’ve got this. 🧠💪

White Rabbits 😜

If you know why I just said that, we are officially part of the same weird club.

Growing up, the first of every single month always started the exact same way in my family. The second you woke up, you had to say "white rabbits" for good luck. No idea where it came from, no idea why we did it, we just did.

Until recently I thought it was something everyone did. It wasn’t until I brought it up to a group of friends as an adult and was met with blank stares that I realised we might just be a bit strange.

But life is way too serious so I love that we’ve kept this tradition alive.

And every once in a while, I’ll run into another human in the wild who also shouts "white rabbits" on the first of the month, and it feels like a secret handshake 🤣

So, this is me passing a little bit of that childhood luck onto your feed today.

White rabbits, everyone. I hope this month treats you incredibly well.

Did your family do this too? What's your weirdest family tradition?

This year been a bit of a test 😩 Between home schooling, total uncertainty, it being a long old slog since we were last in the UK and now the relentless heat, my tank has been running on empty.

So over the weekend, I got to do this...

I joined for an 80s coffee rave!!! It felt SO good to finally let my hair down (crimped, obviously 💁‍♀️).

Adulting is hard at the best of times but when you're with chronic stress your body is working overtime.

It's tempting to curl up in bed to rest, but sometimes the best medicine is to get out there, connect with others and have a laugh.

Just thinking about the 80s gives my nervous system an instant boost.

What was the best thing about that decade?

(And yes, my answer is 100% leg warmers 😜)

And no... It's not because we're sitting down too much 🤨

The latest science reveals that our brains have far more to do with pain than we ever thought.

As a Pain Reprocessing Therapist I can teach you the steps to recover from chronic pain so that you can get back to enjoying life pain-free.
