I saw on JVP Manifesto that was published today.....that they would prohibit the schools form giving homework at grades 1, 2 & 3.....
I wish if they can ban exams until grade 6 or some thing...or until Grade 5 scholarship exam (until we abandon that grade 5 scholarship exams...

We have past paper education.......teachers are pushing children to do past papers from grade 1-2 itself.... Parents are running behind them.....companies are making use of this opportunity to sell variety of past papers, pilot papers etc.....our purpose of education is passing exams..how can you dream abut a knowledge economy with an exam oriented education?

I think we should start the discussion on Educational Reforms in Sri Lanka...but before that.........we should think of simple things first....We are a nation that has mixed up with our priorities....Priorities of the politicians are not the priorities of the people..

Can you believe that there are 500 schools in our motherland that don't have a toilet?? another 2000 + with just one Toilet....

the best reform we can do to our education system is to move from Exam oriented system to a knowledge based system; In Finland, they don't send children to schools until age 7 and students sit for exams only in their teen age......until then they gather knowledge..

This is what we believe in ISaC too....teaching and training for modern day should be changed:

"Teaching by subject" to be replaced with "Teaching by topic"

"This change will see subject specific lessons, such as Geography and History, replaced by pupils being taught cross-subject topics, such as the European Union, which would combine aspects of Economics, Geography and Languages."

Finland...starts it in schools....

did a one day training session at a leading Telco yesterday....There were about 40 in the class....Got great feedback as usual....and this is something really impressed me...One of the senior executives participated in the training wrote a thanking note today and it said this

This is a part of one of the feedback I got for my "workshop on Security Aspects of Mobile Technologies"......Cannot ask for more as a trainer....its very satisfying when the trainees appreciate what you do....
This is where knowledge matters more than anything else...SEEK Knowledge..

"It was a great session we had yesterday, honestly one of the best ones I had in my 7 years career (not a long one) in Telecommunication. I’m handling SIM specification management in Dialog Axiata. The information I gathered in your workshop has given me more insight to the subject I’m handling. Personally I love your competency and knowledge in the area. Not everyone can explain the subject with so much of confidence and depth. Definitely, time was a limiting factor. It would be better if we had at least two days session for this."
