Extra Ordinary General Meeting was held on 16/02/2021 at NAITA Rajagiriya with the auspices of Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Siripala Hettiarachchi

The objectives were to obtain the board’s approval to amend the Article of Association. According to the amended constitution, new office bearers for the Tourism Industry Skills Council were elected.

Further, Additional Secretary Ms. Himali Athaudage State Ministry Skills Development Vocational and Education Research and Innovation, NAITA Chairman Mr. Taranga Gamlath, Director General TVEC Mr. Janaka Jayalath grace the occasion.

The event created a very effective interactive discussion across all stakeholders present and gave way for a sensible foundation for the newly elected TISC board to carry forward its yearly action plan.

Following board members were elected as the new office bearers for the year 2021.

Chairman – Mr. Sanath Ukwattee
Secretary – Mr. Bandula Ekenayake
Treasurer – Mr. Chandima Jayaweera

Transform Tourism Workforce to Alternate Profession

Inaugural meeting was held on December 2, 2020 at TVEC, Nipunatha Piyasa, Colombo 05, Chaired by Additional Secretary Ms. Himali Athaudage

Tourism is hard hit sector, since the higher the share of employment, the higher the impact to the workforce and economies. hence, creation of job opportunities and growth is the key priority of our council and the industry leaders.

Therefore, we propose to upskilling and reskilling the workforce impacted in this industry, to Healthcare/Eldercare sector, Agriculture sector, and Teaching Foreign Language. This transformation, will benefit/ uplift the livelihood of some sector in the industry, thereby contributing the government mission of rapid economic recovery of the nation.
