Today we want to share a rare and beautiful specimen from Sri Lanka’s gem heritage, a Natural Chrysoberyl Twin Crystal (BeAl₂O₄).

This crystal shows a stunning twin formation, where two crystal individuals naturally grow together in perfect symmetry, creating a unique V / heart-like shape. These twins are important in gemology because they clearly demonstrate how nature forms gemstones under high temperature and pressure conditions.

You can also see the parallel lines on the crystal faces, which are not polishing marks these are natural growth striations, created during the crystal’s formation process. This is one of the best natural identification features of chrysoberyl crystals.
