Liberia National Tourism Authority say Content Creators should pay $50 per Year.
Me paying the $50 per year is not anything but here are few questions I will like for them to answer.
1. What exactly do content creators and musicians get in return for paying these fees?
2. Is there a clear benefits package (promotion, grants, training, access to events)?
3. How will this fee increase our income or visibility?
4. How can you charge creators when Liberia is not yet fully monetized on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, or TikTok?
5. What steps are you taking (with telecom regulators or global platforms) to enable monetization first?
6. Will creators start earning before or after paying these fees?
7. Are struggling creators charged the same flat rate regardless of income level?
8. Are there exemptions for upcoming or low-income creatives?
9. Why are musicians paying less than content creators, what’s the rationale?
10. Where will the money go?
11. Is there a public budget or reporting system for these fees?
12. How much revenue do you expect to generate, and how will it be reinvested into creatives?
13. What is the national plan to grow Liberia’s creative economy?
14. How will LNTA help creators access international markets, brand deals, or tourism partnerships?
15. Are there partnerships with streaming platforms, brands, or tourism campaigns?
16. Why introduce fees before building infrastructure (monetization, distribution, training)?
17. Shouldn’t the focus first be on helping creators earn?
18. Were content creators and musicians properly consulted before this decision?
19. Which associations or representatives agreed to this?
20. Can creators participate in shaping future policies?
We are not against regulation, we are against paying into a system that is not yet creating income for us.
Can you show one clear pathway where a Liberian content creator who pays this fee will earn money within 6–12 months?
Can you please answer these questions?
