The Nature Compact is proud to have supported the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF) in launching the “SUSTAIN Project” in southeastern Liberia a groundbreaking initiative aimed at safeguarding Liberia’s unique biodiversity and strengthening community-led conservation efforts. At this historic event, Mr. Sayon, Team Lead of The Nature Compact, facilitated two inception workshops and three regional coordination meetings that brought together key stakeholders from Grand Gedeh, Sinoe, Rivercess, and Grand Kru Counties. These engagements provided a collaborative platform for local authorities, community leaders, and conservation partners to align priorities for sustainable forest management and wildlife protection.

Over the years, TNC has worked hand-in-hand with national agencies and international NGOs to promote inclusive and science-based conservation across Liberia’s landscapes. From supporting community-based forest management initiatives to strengthening environmental safeguards and governance, TNC continues to play a pivotal role in driving partnerships that ensure people and nature thrive together. Our collaboration with organizations like WCF reflects our shared vision of a Liberia where biodiversity is protected, ecosystems are resilient, and communities are empowered to lead the change for a sustainable future.

Interpreting clearly, and implementing the law fairly.

One of the biggest challenges in Natural Resource Management is resolving boundary disputes between communities.

Recently, we at The Nature Compact worked with Weasua and Tarkpoima clans in Gbarpolu County to resolve boundary disputes, as part of the 9-Steps process, approved by the Forestry Development Authority-FDA.

We are happy that the parties we satisfied and agreed to work together to resolve their differences.
