THE OTHER SON
Luke 15:11-32
The story is told of a rich man who had two sons. A time came when one of the sons asked his father to give him his share of property so that he can go on his own to live life. (You know the rest of the story)
The person of interest to me today is the other son. The one who stayed behind in service to his father, the one who through thick and thin was there to serve his father to the point where he could have been mixed up with the servants.
Luke 15:29-30
But he answered his father, ’Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.
But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
👆 This part touches my heart.
Two reactions we have today:
1) We become so close to a person and so comfortable with their service that we forget to appreciate them;
2) We feel like this person doesn't deserve anything no matter what they do, infact what are they trying to prove....
Have you ever felt like the other son?
