Monrovia, Liberia - April 20, 2026

SARX Delegation Meets with Head of Liberia Diaspora Office.

A delegation from Strengthening Africa Resilience towards Excellence (SARX) currently visiting Liberia held a productive meeting with the Head of the Liberia Diaspora Office, Mr. Erasmus T. Williams. The discussion focused on an upcoming international football match between Minnesota United FC and the Liberian National Soccer Team, scheduled for July 26, 2026, at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Frances Tyler, a member of the SARX delegation, stated that the event aims to showcase and elevate Liberian talent on an international stage. She expressed hope that the Diaspora Office would facilitate connections with other global diaspora platforms. According to Ms. Tyler, the match is intended to promote unity, foster cultural exchange, and bridge local talent with the diaspora community.

Mr. Wynfred Russell noted that the delegation will hold consultative meetings with multiple government ministries and agencies to advance sports and cultural initiatives. He confirmed that the team plans to meet with the President of Liberia, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Liberia Football Association, the National Port Authority, the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Corporation, and the Ministry of Information. These engagements, he added, are all geared toward finalizing the upcoming soccer match, which will also serve as part of Liberia’s Independence Day celebrations on July 26.

In his remarks, Mr. Erasmus T. Williams, Head of the Liberia Diaspora Office, welcomed the delegation and outlined the office’s strategic coordination role in supporting diaspora groups seeking to contribute to Liberia’s development. He announced two historic milestones: the establishment of a Legislative Diaspora Caucus under the leadership of H.E. President Joseph Nyumah Boakai Sr., and the inclusion of the Diaspora Office in the national budget for the first time.

The meeting concluded with a shared reflection on the importance of unity and cross-sector partnerships to drive greater investment in Liberia.
