Mentorship is essential for startups, small and medium enterprises for young Basotho entrepreneurs. Not only mentorship but also partnerships that shape the future of sustainable businesses. The shared experiences and insights are what budding entrepreneurs need for accelerated growth, which is our ideal.

It simply a great session for the first episode of our Basotho Startup Weekend. This monthly session for every third week of the month is a platform for entrepreneurs to engage and share ideas of modern business ecosystem. There trainings and information sharing sessions couple with engaging business conversations. Everyone leaves the house with new ideas, empowering awareness, and a lot more.

This week we had an honour of having presentation by Dr Gamedze from African Regional Intellectual Property Organization - ARIPO. The entrepreneurs demonstrated deep sense of appreciation for awareness of the power IP protection.

We also discussed more on risk management for startup.

it was simply a beautiful session. We can't wait for the next Start up Weekend session

From informal survival to formal growth, this is how we transform entrepreneurship in Lesotho 🇱🇸

Yesteray, Sky Business Inc. (SBI) hosted food processors for a Food Products Testing & Certification Information Workshop not as a talk shop, but as a market-access intervention.

Why this matters:

^^Over 70% of local food enterprises operate informally and are locked out of supermarkets, corporates, and institutions.

^^Food testing and certification can increase market eligibility by 3–5times.

^^Certified suppliers reduce buyer risk and unlock long-term, repeat contracts

*What the workshop delivered:
>>Practical guidance on food safety & product testing.
>>Clear pathways to certification (ISO 22000 & retailer requirements).
>>Real insights into what supermarkets actually require
>> A roadmap from compliance → confidence → competitiveness

The bigger impact
This is how we:

Move enterprises from street markets to store shelves;

Shift entrepreneurs from hand-to-mouth trading to scalable businesses;

Build credible local suppliers that can compete regionally.

At SBI, we don’t just train entrepreneurs, we rewire the systems that hold them back.
