As 2026 wraps up and we step into 2027 with a bang, we're proud to celebrate a milestone moment for our long-time partner, Letlotlo Studios Multimedia Solutions (LSMS).

They're releasing the highly anticipated cinematic film SETSETSE - a film by Michael B. Muaung, also the producer behind acclaimed works. Shot in the beautiful mountains, surrounded by breathtaking nature, this is locally produced fine art at its best - and we couldn't be prouder to see our homegrown storytelling take centre stage.

About the film: Setsetse follows a man who has been treated unfairly by the paramount chief. The royal house, under the stern rule of Queen Maphutheho, has taken Tatolo's fields after his father passed on. When Tatolo challenges the paramount chief's actions, he is seen as a rebel and a threat to the existing establishment. Through altercations with the queen's men, his wife is killed in the process, compelling him to abandon his home...

A much anticipated development

The addition of an AI data centre positions Lesotho to enter Africa’s growing digital economy, though specific details of the centre are yet to be disclosed.

Currently, Lesotho is reliant on electricity imports, but Project Kobong could generate surplus power for export to South Africa and other nations.

Lesotho signed a $6.2 billion agreement with US-based Convalt Energy to build a 1,200 MW hydropower plant and an AI data centre.

The deal is expected to be the largest foreign direct investment in Lesotho’s history, aiming to turn the country into a regional power exporter.

LETS SPREAD THE WORD....

03/05/2026

We came across this discussion on trending discourse on xenophobia and migration in South Africa. The SABC News interview is herein attached:

The discussion raises important questions about how public discourse is shaped.

At Governex, our work is guided by a simple principle: data, not emotion, should lead policy. Across Lesotho, Africa, and the Global South, we apply critical, evidence-based analysis to political, economic, social, and development issues – including our recent political discourse analysis on GBV trends.

We share this video for your own viewing and discretion. We do not claim any contribution to or ownership of its content.

If you have thoughts you wish to share on the broader discussion of evidence versus sensationalism in policy, you are welcome to reach out privately via our page Facebook inbox or WhatsApp at +266 5756 6476.
