BEDCO proudly celebrates the remarkable growth of its Textile Incubation Programme beneficiary, Tranquille Textiles (Pty) Ltd, following the launch of its new factory in Maputsoe. This milestone marks an inspiring journey that began in 2024, when the company had only 6โ8 employees and faced challenges including limited business systems, weak operational structures, sourcing difficulties, and bookkeeping gaps. Through BEDCO's incubation and business development support, Tranquille Textiles has strengthened its operations, developed sound business systems, enhanced its investor readiness, and grown into a thriving enterprise currently employing 90 people, with the new factory expected to create approximately 150 additional jobs.
Speaking at the launch, BEDCO Acting CEO, Mr. Ts'epang Tlali, reaffirmed BEDCO's commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of Basotho-owned enterprises. He encouraged Tranquille Textiles to continue building strong business systems, managing its operations effectively, and positioning itself for expansion beyond its current achievements. Through the investor readiness support gained during the incubation journey, the company recently secured funding from the Inclusive Growth Fund, enabling it to acquire additional machinery and equipment and establish its new factoryโfurther positioning Tranquille Textiles as one of the emerging giants in the textile industry.
This success story reflects BEDCO's continued commitment to its mandate of facilitating the establishment and growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), enhancing access to finance and markets, providing and facilitating incubation services, and promoting an entrepreneurial culture in Lesotho. The journey of Tranquille Textiles demonstrates the transformative impact of enterprise development in building sustainable businesses, creating meaningful employment opportunities, and changing lives within the Maputsoe community and beyond.
